Virgin Voyages' Valiant Lady Returns from Drydock with New Indian Dining Concept Ariya

After more than two weeks in drydock, Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady returned to service this week with a fresh look, upgraded spaces, and a brand-new culinary concept that has the cruise world buzzing. The ship arrived in Civitavecchia (Rome’s cruise port) on May 25, 2026, kicking off a 6-night Mediterranean voyage that marks the start of its summer European season — and sailors aboard will be among the first to experience everything that changed during the refit.

Ariya by Razzle Dazzle: The Headline Addition

The biggest news out of the drydock is a reimagined dining venue. The beloved Razzle Dazzle restaurant — already a Virgin staple known for its playful plant-forward menus — has been given a dual identity in the evenings. Come nightfall, it transforms into Ariya by Razzle Dazzle, a new Indian dining concept developed in collaboration with culinary company Indie Culinaire and chef Maneet Chauhan.

According to reporting by VV Insider, the venue will continue serving Razzle Dazzle’s familiar breakfast and brunch menus during the day. But in the evenings, it transitions into Ariya, presenting menus rooted in regional Indian culinary traditions with an emphasis on spice-forward dishes and traditional preparation methods. It’s a genuinely clever concept — one space, two distinct personalities, and zero wasted real estate on a ship where every square foot matters.

More Than Just a New Menu

The culinary upgrade is the marquee change, but it’s far from the only one. The drydock — carried out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Italy — also delivered a number of other improvements:

  • Grounds Club Too was reworked to match the updated concept seen on Valiant Lady’s sister ships Scarlet Lady and Brilliant Lady. The space now transitions from a specialty coffee spot during the day into a proper cocktail bar by evening.
  • On The Rocks, the live music venue, received a layout overhaul. A curved wall was removed to open up sightlines and create a larger seating area for guests watching performances.
  • Cabins received practical refreshes including carpet replacement and an upgrade of approximately 1,400 power outlets — with more USB-C charging points throughout the ship.
  • The Roundabout concept, which debuted on Brilliant Lady, is also expected to make an appearance in updated form.

Why This Matters for Virgin Voyages Fans

This drydock represents something meaningful beyond a simple refresh. Valiant Lady is Virgin Voyages’ second ship and has been sailing since 2021. This is its first major refit — and the fact that Virgin is investing in bringing the vessel up to par with newer additions to the fleet signals a maturing approach to fleet management.

For would-be sailors, the timing is particularly interesting. Valiant Lady is now heading into a full Mediterranean and Northern European season, meaning guests booked on summer sailings will get to experience all of these upgrades in one of the world’s most beautiful sailing regions.

The addition of Indian cuisine via Ariya is also worth noting from a broader trend perspective. Cruise lines have historically leaned heavily on European and American culinary touchpoints. A dedicated Indian dining concept — especially one developed with a named, credentialed chef — reflects a growing awareness that the cruise passenger demographic is diversifying, and that exceptional onboard food is one of the sharpest competitive weapons a line can wield.

What’s Next for Valiant Lady

Following the Mediterranean season, Valiant Lady is expected to continue the itinerary rotation that Virgin Voyages has become known for — intimate port-heavy routes that skip the mega-port queues in favor of more offbeat experiences. With the ship now refurbished and repositioned in Europe, it enters the back half of 2026 in arguably its best shape yet.
