Norwegian Cruise Line is putting one of its newest and largest ships on some of its shortest itineraries. According to a Norwegian Cruise Line announcement published August 24, 2026, the Norwegian Aqua will begin sailing 3- and 4-night Bahamas cruises from PortMiami in April 2028 — more than 50 short sailings across a season that runs from late April through late October.
If you’ve been waiting for a big, brand-new ship to show up on a long-weekend itinerary, this is it. The Aqua only debuted in 2025 and carries 3,571 guests, and short Bahamas runs are usually where cruise lines deploy older, smaller tonnage. Putting a current-generation ship on a Friday-to-Monday schedule is the headline here, and it’s good news for anyone who wants a modern ship without booking a full week.

The Aqua’s Miami move is part of a broader 2028 reshuffle Norwegian outlined in the same announcement. The incoming Norwegian Aura, entering service in 2027, will run seven-night Eastern Caribbean sailings from PortMiami. Norwegian Escape is slated for a summer deployment out of Port Canaveral, and Norwegian Prima gets a summer season based in Galveston.
